On October 12, the Domenica di Carta returns — an initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture to highlight the paper-based heritage preserved in State libraries and archives, which open their doors for a special day of free guided tours, events, and meetings.
The Biblioteca Riccardiana is offering a rich program of activities related to the theme chosen by the Directorate-General for Libraries and Cultural Institutions, which this year is Libraries in the Family. The aim is to welcome visitors into that cultural family entrusted with the role of transmitting traditions and identities as a social component.
Thanks to the synergy between the Metropolitan City of Florence and the Biblioteca Riccardiana, and in collaboration with the MUS.E Foundation, the Biblioteca Riccardiana and the Biblioteca Moreniana will be open to the public through a special tour. Starting in the Michelozzo courtyard, the tour will continue through the museum route rooms and, passing through one of the hidden doors behind the carved and gilded cabinets of the Hall of Mirrors, will reach the Biblioteca Riccardiana.
There will be three appointments available for the special opening on Sunday, October 12: at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and
11:00 AM.
The visits are free (each lasting about 1 hour and 15 minutes).
Entry is from Via Cavour 3. As space is limited, reservations are required.
