Lorenzo Mehus and the History of Philology: Archives, Books and Letters

Exhibition and Study Conference

Tuesday November 4th at 11.a.m. exhibition opening: Fra i Tesori della Riccardiana. I Libri e gli zibaldoni di Lorenzo Mehus.

Lorenzo Mehus is a key figure among 18th century Florentine intellectuals. Insatiable explorer of manuscripts and archives, he contributed significantly to the understanding of the city’s libraries collections.

The exhibition – curated by Francesco Bausi, Emilio Boaretto, Matteo Ceccherini, Fabio Forner, Clementina Marsico – is organized in collaboration with Florence University and Verona University.

The Conference Lorenzo Mehus and the history of Philology: Archive, Books, Letters, will be held on November 4th-5th, at the Sala Orbatello, University of Florence, via della Pergola 60.

The exibition will be open to the public from November 4th, 2025 to January 9th, 2026.
