On Tuesday, January 27 at 11:30 a.m., on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day 2026, the Biblioteca Riccardiana presents a selection of ex libris and engravings by Michel Fingesten (Butzkowitz, present-day Czech Republic, 1884 – Cerisano (CS), 1943).
The exhibition, open to the public from 27 January to 31 March 2026, is linked to a parallel exhibition held at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Florence; both have been made possible thanks to the generosity of the same collector.
Fingesten, a painter and engraver of Czech origin and Jewish heritage, is regarded as one of the greatest ex libris artists of the twentieth century, capable of exploring this artistic medium and elevating it to new, powerful and tragic forms of expression.
The exhibition may be visited free of charge during the Library’s opening hours:
-
Monday and Thursday: 8:15 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
-
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:15 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
